Founded in 1964, the Gershon H. Gordon Faculty of Social Sciences at Tel Aviv University comprises three independent schools and five departments bringing together academics in a variety of fields. The Schools are: Economics, Social Work and Psychological Sciences. The Departments are: Political Science, Sociology and Anthropology, Communication, Labor Studies and Public Policy. In the year it was founded, the Faculty of Social Sciences consisted of the following departments: Sociology, Political Science and International Relations, and Developing Countries. One year later additional four academic units were initiated: Economics, Statistics, Labor Studies and a Program in Journalism.
